The City of Alamosa, Alamosa County, and the Colorado Department of Transportation announced on Mar. 16 that the open house for the Alamosa Access Control Plan (ACP) has been postponed. A new date and time will be set after more property-specific public outreach is completed.

The postponement follows feedback received during the ACP Work Session held on February 25 at both city and county meetings. Officials said that additional engagement with local business and property owners is necessary before moving forward.

In a statement, CDOT, the City, and the County thanked residents for sharing their concerns and gave special recognition to the Alamosa Chamber of Commerce “who has advocated for local business owners throughout the ACP process.” The agencies also said they remain committed to transparency and supporting local businesses. Over the coming months, they plan to meet with stakeholders to address specific issues related to access management.

The ACP serves as CDOT’s long-range transportation planning document for U.S. Highways 160 and 285. Its goal is to create a unified approach to managing highway access in order to maintain safety, mobility, and corridor function as traffic increases and land use changes over time.

Officials encouraged continued public participation in the process. For more information or questions about properties within city limits, residents can contact the City of Alamosa Development Services Department at planning@alamosa.gov or (719) 589-6631. For properties outside city limits, inquiries can be directed to Alamosa County Land Use Administrator Richard Hubler at rhubler@alamosacounty.org or (719) 589-3812.
