Alamosa County officials proclaimed on April 8 that the week of April 6-12, 2026 is recognized as National Public Health Week in the county.
The proclamation highlights the importance of public health professionals and collective community efforts to improve health and well-being. The theme for this year’s observance is “Ready. Set. Action!” which underscores that good health is achieved through community action, scientific progress, and coordinated government initiatives.
According to the announcement, the Alamosa County Public Health Department plays a key role in protecting residents through programs focused on disease prevention, environmental health, maternal and family health services, chronic disease management, injury prevention, behavioral health promotion, emergency preparedness, and home health care.
The proclamation also states that local citizens recognize the significance of public health in ensuring a safe and thriving community for everyone. Officials encourage collaboration among residents, organizations, businesses, and government agencies to achieve better overall community health.
By recognizing National Public Health Week locally each year with an official proclamation, Alamosa County aims to promote awareness about ongoing public health initiatives and inspire continued participation from all sectors of society.
