The PSSGID Wastewater System is facing a critical issue after the guide rail system for a submersible pump at Pump Station #1 became disconnected, rendering the pump inoperable. This malfunction could lead to liquid waste overflowing from the well.

According to officials, staff are working to secure an emergency bypass pump that will allow them to drain the well and reconnect the separated pump. In the meantime, residents within the General Improvement District (GID) are being asked to reduce their use of water over the next 48 hours in order to lessen stress on the wastewater system until repairs can be completed.

Residents have been advised to only flush solid waste, minimize flushing of liquid waste, take shorter showers and baths, and avoid using sinks, washing machines, and dishwashers. The GID stated it is making efforts to restore full operation as quickly as possible.

“We urgently need support from residents within the General Improvement District (GID) for the next 48 hours to minimize stress on the wastewater system until repairs can be made. The GID is actively working to reconnect the pump as quickly as possible. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have more information. Thank you for doing your part to protect our system and prevent further disruptions!”
