BLM announces motorized road closures and re-routes at Phils World in Montezuma County

The U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has implemented a motorized road closure and re-route in the Phils World Recreational Area, located north of Colorado Highway 160 between County Road 30 and County Road L in Montezuma County. The changes took effect on January 28, 2026.

A map detailing the affected area is available on the Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office website. The map is compatible with Avenza, allowing users to download it to their smartphones and view their location within the mapped area using a “You Are Here” feature.

Sheriff Steven D. Nowlin stated that additional information can be obtained from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management at the Dolores Public Lands Office.
