The City of Durango was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association, according to a Mar. 30 announcement. The recognition was given for Durango’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year of 2024.
The award is considered the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting. It highlights efforts to ensure transparency and clarity in how city finances are reported to residents.
Durango received this certificate after its financial report was evaluated by a panel from the Government Finance Officers Association. Chief Financial Officer Gloria Platt said, “Being recognized for excellence in financial reporting is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire finance team.” She added, “We take pride in making sure the city’s financial information is clear and accessible for everyone in our community.”
According to the Government Finance Officers Association, cities that receive this certificate demonstrate a constructive spirit of full disclosure and clearly communicate their financial story.
