The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office released its West End activity log for April 2 through April 5, detailing various incidents and calls for service during that period.
The report provides insight into the types of calls handled by deputies in the communities of Nucla, Naturita, Bedrock, and Gateway. It highlights law enforcement’s ongoing response to community needs and public safety issues.
According to the activity log released on Apr. 7, deputies responded to several incidents each day. On April 2, calls included reports of abandoned property near Mailbox Park Road and County Road 90 by Nucla, a welfare check on Payson Street in Naturita, trespassing on Grape Street in Nucla, a civil standby on West Main Street in Naturita, and public relations efforts in Nucla. Deputies also conducted a ride along and performed one vehicle identification number (VIN) inspection.
On April 3, deputies were dispatched to trespassing reports on Heron Street in Nucla as well as welfare checks near Highway 141 by Naturita. Other activities included taking an information report at West Main Street in Naturita and assisting citizens at multiple locations.
April 4 saw responses to citizen assists on Cascade Circle in Naturita and animal problems on East Fourth Avenue in Nucla. Deputies addressed medical assists at Crystal Drive in Naturita and responded to accidents near Highway 90 by Bedrock. A notable incident occurred when Terry Franklin, age 76, was cited for trespassing following a call at Highway 141 near Naturita later that evening. The day’s activities also included two directed patrols both within the county and specifically within Naturita.
On April 5, calls included responding to a reported emergency (911) on Main Street in Nucla as well as providing medical assistance near Road 29700/2800 close to Nucla.
The release underscores the range of services provided by local law enforcement over just four days—ranging from routine patrols to emergency responses—reflecting ongoing efforts toward community safety.
