Ouray County issued the following announcement on Oct. 1.
Ouray County transition out of all current fire restrictions effective at 12:01AM on Friday, October 2, 2020.
Although fire restrictions have been lifted, the Ouray County Board of County Commissioners and the County Sheriff urge residents and visitors to continue to be vigilant in their actions and attentive to their surroundings. Please note: these restrictions apply only to the unincorporated areas of Ouray County. Please check with the United States Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, City of Ouray, and Town of Ridgway as other restrictions may apply in the area.
As always, residents and visitors are encouraged to practice smart wildfire behavior by observing the following campfire safety rules:
Never leave a campfire unattended;
Only use established campfire rings;
Pick safe and proper campfire sites; and,
Ensure that campfires are completely extinguished and cool to the touch by using drown, stir, and feel methods.
