DURANGO SCHOOL DISTRICT: Schools Closed/Student Enrichment Days

Closed 1000

Durango School District issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

The district has identified an additional two days where schools will be closed to allow teacher's additional work days to continue to plan and adjust to instruction under the guidelines of COVID-19. The two days are October 30 and November 2; these are in addition to the already identified teacher work day/school closure of November 30. Enrichment opportunities will be available to families of students in grades k-6 at no cost to the families allowing them to be supervised during regular school hours. Children with significant needs will also have an opportunity to be served at the middle and high school grades. Parents of such students will be contacted in the coming week.

Students should expect to be assigned work to do at home, or in school should they attend the enrichment opportunities, on October 30. This will be an assignment that goes home with your child the previous day if you are in-person, and online access is not expected to be able to complete the assignment. PLEASE NOTE that preschool will continue on October 30th as normal.

The other two days, November 2 and November 30, are school closures, and no academic work will be assigned on those days.  As mentioned previously, students in grades K-6 will, however still be able to attend enrichment opportunities during those days taking place during regular school hours to help with child supervision issues.  Blended learners who attend in person on Monday and Tuesday will NOT shift their schedules for those days; they will be days off.

If you wish for your child in grades K-6 to attend in-person enrichment opportunities on these days, you MUST complete this Registration Form. Drop-ins will not be allowed. Please complete the form no later than Friday, October 23, 2020.
