Rio Grande County Road & Bridge seeks:
General Summary of Duties:
Operates and maintains trucks with capacity of more than 3 tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations and operates other trucks and equipment used in the maintenance of County roads as assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Operates heavy equipment in all aspects of clearing right-of-way, trenching, filling and back filling, and snow removal. Operates other road maintenance equipment and asphalt equipment as assigned as an on-the-job training experience. Loads and places sand, earth, rock, asphalt, and other road construction and maintenance materials. Performs minor repairs and roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, and tire chains. Maintains truck log according to state and federal regulations. Assists with surveying activities in the design, construction and maintenance activities. Performs traffic control/flagging duties during construction and maintenance activities. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive instructions when necessary. Required to be on-call 24 hours/day, 7 days/week for snow removal and/or other road related emergencies.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or GED; one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
CDL Class B with / Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening mandatory.
Pay rate is (DOE) depending on experience does include Full Benefits.
