Montrose County issued the following announcement on Nov. 5.
Public Health reports a total of 497 positive (PCR) cases, which is an increase of 39 cases since our last report on 10/29/20. At this time, the main source of transmission is community spread.
This was stated last week and bears repeating again: “Another source of transmission is from individuals going to work sick. It cannot be stressed enough–do not go to work, to the store, or out in public if you are sick. Even if allergies are suspected, please take the time to call a primary care provider and obtain a COVID-19 test to protect the community and limit spread. Once again, cases in Montrose County are continuing to rise; and public health would like to remind the public to help us stop the spread of COVID-19 by washing your hands, wearing a mask, and watching your distance. At this time, Montrose County is at Level 1 on the Dial Dashboard, which can be found here.”
Please continue to help out the community by staying home if you are sick, assisting elderly family and neighbors with groceries and other tasks to limit exposure, and be kind as the pandemic is wearing on all of us.
If You Have Been Tested
If you have been tested for COVID-19, please follow CDPHE guidelines for quarantine or isolation. Do NOT go to work or to the store sick. Contact the public health hotline at 970-252-4545 if you need assistance accessing resources due to loss of work or otherwise. Please continue to make good choices to keep our community healthy.
Stay Home if Sick
Maintain physical distancing to reduce person-to-person contacts and slow the spread of infection.As CDPHE states, “Creating distance between people slows community spread of COVID-19. Slowing the spread of COVID-19 will decrease the daily number of cases and hospitalizations that occur in Colorado.” If you cannot maintain distancing, then wear a face covering. As CDPHE states, “The main reason to wear a non-medical mask is to protect others. Data show that some people may spread COVID-19 when they do not have symptoms. People may spread the disease when speaking, coughing or sneezing — especially in situations where a physical distance of six feet cannot be maintained”.

Agriculture Grant: The Colorado Farm & Food Systems Respond & Rebuild Fund has a third round of grants available, made possible by the Colorado Department of Agriculture. About $1 million is available for producers, processors, and intermediaries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications are open through Nov. 9, 2020. City of Montrose, CO: The City of Montrose has been allocated funds through the Coronavirus Relief Fund (CARES Act) to respond to community nonprofit needs as a result of the COVID-19 emergency. A portion of these funds has been set aside to establish the COVID-19 Nonprofit and Child Care Assistance Program to provide financial assistance to local community nonprofit organizations and child care providers in the form of grants to address unexpected expenses resulting from the COVID-19 emergency.
